Believe 31
Believe 31 assists firefighters and auxiliary members who are in need in Cortland, Madison, and Onondaga Counties. They do this through emotional and financial support for those battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses as well as building awareness for cancer risk and prevention in the fire industry.

Knitted Knockers
Knitted Knockers connects volunteer knitters and crocheters with breast cancer survivors to offer free Knitted Knockers to any women who wants them. Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prostheses for women who have had breast cancer and undergone a mastectomy or lumpectomy. They are soft, comfortable, adjustable, and washable that when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast. CancerConnects has some Knitted Knockers available in our office!
Saint Agatha Foundation
Laurie Mezzalingua, a breast cancer patient for 12 years, established the Saint Agatha Foundation to provide financial assistance to those in Central New York who are battling breast cancer. The Foundation is dedicated to provide support, comfort, and care to breast cancer patients. It can help pay for a variety of costs that patients must bear to assure quality treatment. Laurie’s Hope
Laurie’s Hope, supported by the Saint Agatha Foundation, helps breast cancer survivors thrive by maintaining physical fitness and strength; improving their diets; and helping them make connections with other breast cancer survivors. With a strong emphasis on improved social support, interventions are individually designed to strengthen survivors’ support networks, both inside and outside of the YMCA.

4th Angel
Cleveland Clinic’s 4th Angel Mentoring Program is a free, national, one-to-one telephone and email based adult peer mentoring program that offers confidential outreach and support to cancer patients and their caregivers from survivors (mentors). These specially trained 4th Angel mentors serve as active listeners who empower patients and caregivers with knowledge, awareness, hope and a helping hand.
